Why Ares?

Ares is one of the cooler P2P file interchange systems available now.  Like a lot of software appearing now, its open source, so anyone can go into the software and play with the code and customize it.    Similar to Limewire, the software allows you to download from multiple sources in order to speed up the download.  Another feature is the ability to pause the download at any time in case there is a power outage or the need to disconnect from the net and continue the download at another time.

Some of the other cool bells and whistles included with Ares are things like instant messaging, multiple skins, chat rooms, a web browser, and multiple search windows.  So the technology has advanced past simple file sharing and embraced the move toward social networking. Another nice feature in the program is the audio / video preview feature, allowing you to look or listen to your file before the download is finished.  Unlike some other P2P applications, Ares is free ( so you really cannot beat the price of the product ) and is relatively spyware and malware free.  There are some pop-ups that are tame compared to some of the other alternatives out there.

As far as user reviews are considered, most of the Ares users appear to be quite pleased with the ease of use and the interface.  The UI is not as friendly on the eye as Limewire or Kazaa, and could be described as utilitarian, but with the price of software and all the other unique features Ares is well worth the lack of a slick interface.  Unlimited searching on its own network is another great feature that is unlike other file sharing programs.

So overall Ares appears to be one of the best applications out there if you are looking for something that is free, with unlimited downloads, a web browser, instant messaging, and a chat room.   You may just have to choose from one of several of the different flavors of Ares, since it is an open source application.  One popular location for the download is www.aresdestiny.com.
